Dr. Chris Wild discusses need for a coordinated international exposome effort

In a recent interview for the European Commission’s Research and Innovation Magazine, Dr. Wild discussed the increasing importance of international collaboration to identify links between the environment and disease. He emphasized that most chronic diseases stem from aspects of our exposome and there is great potential to prevent disease through properly characterizing these risks.

Dr. Wild recapped the need for coordinated efforts and international collaboration,

“as the global health community develops a better understanding of how best to approach the exposome, we would certainly benefit from identifying which exposures need to be better understood. We should then pool our efforts to investigate these parts of the exposome through international collaboration to avoid duplicating work or missing important areas.”
